Here I have looked at analysed to companies ident's, Lionsgate and Paramount. I have chosen 2 different idents to show how idents can differ between different films released by the company.
Lionsgate first originated from another
production, Cinepix Productions. Later, they advanced the company, introducing
Lionsgate. The Lionsgate ident has been displayed at
the beginning of many horror films, such as, ‘American Psycho’ and ‘Cabin
In The Woods’.
As we can see from the Lionsgate ident
above, it is the most recent version, produced in 2011.
The ident begins with a faded black screen,
then transitions to the mechanics found inside a clock, a sudden shot change
appears and the clock begins to rapidly zoom out to a door, which has a
keyhole. The door then opens and we see the Lionsgate ident, surrounded by
dusky clouds in the sky.
Conversely, Lionsgate produced a similar
ident, initially for Horror films. The ident is similar to the original as of
the mechanics and clock and the beginning. However, the color scheme changes to
a dusky brown, which may connote the shadowy atmosphere to Horror films.
Furthermore, at the end, the Lionsgate ident is surrounded by fiery and smokey
clouds and the font becomes red, which connotes the sense of evil within a
Horror film.
